Today I was rescued by a Goat puppet.

My friends' son's* birthday party is this weekend. So last week I ordered him a Pancake Mountain DVD as the one I got him for Christmas was a big hit (both with the kid and dad). Today I realize I still haven't received it and time is running short, so I check Insound's website to see if there's a tracking number or anything. Instead I find out my item is backordered, probably for 2-3 weeks. And they never told me.

The start of Pancake Mountain is a goat named Rufus who, naturally, is my friend on FB. So I write on Rufus's wall to see if he knows any retailers around DC that might carry the DVD (Rufus being a Washingtonian himself). He gives me some suggestions that don't pan out then offers to give me free overnight shipping if I buy the DVD direct from the PM website.

I ordered 2 and they should be here tomorrow and the boy's 5th birthday is saved.

My initial take was that she was doing this during the day, while conscious.  I'm a heavy tooth grinder, as are my brothers and my daughter.  My dentist noticed the wear on my teeth and made me a mouth-guard like appliance to wear at night.  I'll do the same for my daughter once she gets her adult molars.  I've actually worn out the appliance and need to get it replaced.  You might suggest her dentist have a look at her teeth with an eye towards whether she's hurting them.  I can't imagine its good for her teeth either.

I have to wear a mouthguard at night sometimes, too. I'm a clencher. I would wake up with terrible headaches 6/7 mornings and pain in my neck and jaw.

The idea is that you wear the mouthguard for a while, and it forces you to adopt a relaxed jaw position, and eventually you start to relax naturally. I have to use mine for two weeks every few months or so to retrain my body to chill the hell out, but it does work.
