Also: Today I'm gonna learn that there is an irritated skunk somewhere near my property.  Blech.

I learned from television, and confirmed on the internet, that skunks are among the most common carriers of rabies. Watch for aggressive behavior and more activity during daylight, and be careful.

Awww!

I was going to ask how something that cute could be that stinky, but then I remembered my kids.

Get back from Chicago! Actually, yesterday, but my internet was down until just now.

Sorry to Jorge for not getting to meet up. Was busy with girlfriend/her family.

We saw a great play (2 of the brother/sister plays at the Steppenwolf, for anyone in Chicago) which were FANTASTIC. We saw some good bands (Pattern is Movement, a personal fave). We ate deep dish, and rode the L a lot, and bought records. I bought a Jerry Jeff Walker album for 99 cents, but it skips. BOO. Saw the zoo, saw the botanical gardens, met up with a good friend from high school, lots of fun.

Last night we saw The Room, which was hilarious and silly.

This funny thing happened all week, where if I liked something my girlfriend and her best friend hated it, and if they liked it I hated it. It was kind of frustrating and upsetting. So it was good that we all agreed that The Room was really stupid and bad, at least. I mean, not that anyone thinks that movie is actually good.

This time I was able to talk to her parents like I was a semi-normal person, so, that was good I guess.

OMG skunks are so cute. At least, the ones that have had their scent glands removed, and who have been bred in captivity. My ex really wanted a pet skunk. He found these videos of a skunk named Mr. Waddles who got along really well with his four feline housemates and humans. They are so hilarious. Mr. Waddles was tragically obese, though.

How the hell do I find a job?

My parents have told me they would be willing to support me for a while if I found an internship or something that I really wanted to do, but...
I am so completely at a loss for what I want to do that I don't even know where to look. I would like to find, you know, a job that I like, but I don't even know what that would be.

My default search plan is, find a job which will allow me to pay the bills for the time being. In 5 minutes of searching on craigslist I found a job that looks good, but despite saying it's in "Saint Louis" the address listed is way the fuck out of town, very far away from what I would call St Louis.

Today, in the span of about two minutes, I'm going to find out:

  • Conan O'Brien is doing a comedy tour (yay!)
  • He's coming to my town (yay!)
  • The San Diego date is in the middle of my "get the hell out of here" vacation (c'mon)
  • All dates I could conceivably get to are sold out already

oh well

I managed to get tickets for April 16.

Depends. Are you looking for something in your particular field, or something to pay your rent until you figure out exactly what you want to do with your life?

Good luck! Yikes.

Today I'm gonna Facebook chat with Judy, and manage to not scare him too much. Also notice that "The Graduate" is listed among his fan pages, and try not to take that as encouragement.

 ;)

Yes, my school has placement programs and stuff... but I was under the impression that I would need to be supporting myself, and so I had not really pursued that.
Also I am an irresponsible bum.

I would love something in my "chosen field" but I don't know what that is. I don't think they're hiring anthropologists without advanced degrees, although today a professor gave us a talk about how basically that is what happened to him.

So right now I think my goal is enough money to live on, hopefully someplace interesting.

I do not want to say "I want to stay in st louis because of my girlfriend," but maybe that's somewhere in there.

But really, I just have no idea what I want to do at all.

Have I mentioned how much I like The Graduate? What a great movie. My girlfriend's mom is pretty hot, too.

The Graduate is one hell of a good movie.  It's like the best Woody Allen movie that he never made.

our favorite oldies station is hiring someone to get companies to advertise on them.

I think this job would be very funny. I listen to this station a lot, and I have heard maybe 5 ads ever. They seem incredibly unprofessional. I am trying to think of all the things that are awesome about this station...

"THE FIRST AMENDMENT. AN ALL-AMERICAN STATION."
they have a "minute of silence" every day to honor those who have passed in the last year, and say "if you are offended by this, change the dial and never come back, because we don't want you as a listener."
they used to play a mix of "golden oldies" and classic country, and I miss the country so much.
they frequently run 1950's era ads for no reason.
despite their oldies thing, their call-sign announcement is a very frenetic 90's sounding thing with like, horrible weird synthetic voice sounds and stuff. K Z.... Q.... ZEEEEEEEEEEEE, IN ST LOUIS, MISSOURI, AN ALL AMERICAN STATION, 1430 AM.

they only seem to have DJs on the weekends.

Today, I left my car in a parking lot I do not have a pass for for a few hours while I did my radio show. Apparently, despite this being a thing I am paranoically cautious about, I left my lights on. Now my battery is dead. I owe campus parking services so much money due to tickets. goddamnit.
I did not want my girlfriend to walk home alone at 2 AM, so now I am spending the night here.
I hope my professors/classmates do not mind that I have not showered in a few days. Oops.
