Smells, I guess I am one of the privileged people, because I have not encountered too many folks in my life who i felt were just totally irredeemable. I have certainly met people who have chosen not to take advantage of services that would help them redeem themselves -- the meth addict who killed my grandmother and her husband twelve hours after being released from prison does spring to mind -- but I still feel like that was a bad decision on his part that got wildly out of hand, not an inherent evil lurking in his soul. Certainly, there are people who will reject opportunities for redemption, but I still believe (because I must, or else succumb to despair) that they are people making bad choices, not bad people.

Off topic (if that's even possible for this thread): Does anybody else have random words float around in your head as you fall asleep? I was jarred awake several times last night just as I was dropping off by a string of interruptions, and each time I was able to catch the last few words that were floating across as I regained complete consciousness. This happens with some regularity, but last night's catch was too good not to share: first, I had "Columbian Fear of Bad Feelings," followed by "crimson criminal cannibal."

Pedro, apparently, doesn't get words, but images. Freaky.

Yes, and this used to cause me no end of anxiety.  I thought it was the beginning of hearing the voices.  Happens when I'm fully awake too.

oh man, recently this happened to me and it was something really hilarious, and I cannot remember what it was. But I definitely have random words pop into my head, especially when I was studying foreign languages.

A peg-leg pug?

I'm drawn to three legged dogs, dogs who have one eye - likewise for cats.  I haven't adopted one yet, but something about them is just too dam cute.

I know that everyone has finally moved on to pugs (yay!) but can someone TLDR the last few pages for me? It seemed interesting, but man, I'm like a week behind on the board and sometimes you guys go nuts.

Hm. Might want to move to Chicago. Should have met up with friends who live there to see their neighborhoods.

Sorry, St Louis, you are one of the worst cities to find a job in the country.

I'm reading the online Post-Intelligencer, and at the bottom of the page, I read the following:

Man claims he fed bodies of 5 kids to his dog | Federal Way…
Cheerleaders suspended for alleged hazing with hot dogs, diapers
15-year-old assaults 3 in downtown Seattle, police say
'Anarchists' create overnight havoc on Capitol Hill

I give up.
