that someone should really go fix up the Achewood Wiki, the Achewiki, which could serve as a knowledge base for all things Achewood?

I guess another sort of low moment for me is that I never got involved in any of the IRC stuff. That would have been fun, and I feel like I've missed some of what makes this place what it is, and there aren't archives for that stuff.

I think I was involved? Maybe not? I think I was, but at a point where the characters all got mixed up in my head.

I took a gander at my first posts to see what my first non-achewood thread was.

They were much better written than my recent posts. Depressing.

Good thing you clarified there, because I could sense Jorge was about to start fumbling for some rope.

I was a little bit.  I think it was pretty short-lived.

I idled for months in the IRC room.   Pretty much I logged in and forgot about it.  I would show up from time to time to talk for a few minutes and then vanish again.

How did you find the board: I was on the Dumbrella board as "Thumbwrestler" which is a lurky sockpuppet handle I will use to read message boards.  I never posted there.   Then later went back to find it again, and discovered it was gone, prompting me to find this place.   In lurking for a while here, I discovered that I knew Bobby from elsewhere on the internet.   Even more so, I had repeatedly banned him from my IRC networks.   (He kept correcting my spelling during a conversation he wasn't even involved with, and everything about him came off as "LOOK AT THE BIG BRAIN ON ME") so I was decidedly an ass about it, since I'm a short man and had some measure of technological authority.   That prompted me to sign in here as "Smick" which is a smash 'em up of my first and last name, instead of the usual internet name-plumb I use everywhere else.   Months later, we were sitting in the IRC channel and he realized that he recognized my ISP host and pressed.  I ate crow.   I still see him elsewhere on the internet.

First post: A discussion of how to pronounce a greek food. It came 10 minutes after I registered.   It was that post that made me finally register and join the conversation, I guess.

First non-Achewood strip thread started: It is also my first ever started thread.  Almost 2 months after joining up.   I had read about these glasses in Make.   I still kind of want them, but no.  It's awful.

First avatar: I want to say it was a loop of Kirk yelling "KHAAAAAAAAN" that at some point it was decided looked decidedly pre-facial with his fist all shaking and jerking furiously.

Stalker moment: I too got flirty with Jough, and was shot down cold.  Actually, mostly it was when Jough called me a stalker for always hanging out in the aforementioned IRC channel but never saying anything.

Best moment: HARD TO SAY.   I have to think it was very recently when you guys showed so much support over in that monolithic "Today" thread when I was gearing up to say funny things into a microphone in an attempt to get instant approval from strangers.  That was seriously pretty awesome.

Lowest moment: There are a lot of these.   I think my post count would be about twice as high if I didn't keep writing posts, and then deciding "This is awful, and it sucks plus it is dumb." and closing the window.   ALTERNATIVELY: You can take that as my UNDYING dedication to QUALITY.

Meetups: I've met Nabu on multiple occasions, and enjoyed it, even though he thought it was forgettable.  I almost met Linnea when she came through PDX once, but I was having life turmoil and neglected to do much of anything for a while there.

I've put in an unlikely-to-be-approved request to attend a work related training in Portland on July 22nd.  Will the stars align?

How I found the board:  I joined Dumbrella maybe two weeks before the end, after googling to try to find more Achewood info.

First post:  Favorite strips list.

First non-Achewood topic:  Asking about forum titles.  Yawn.

First avatar:  Not sure, but I think it was the face of the mascot from this photo.

Stalker moment:  meh, not many.  Probably commenting on Starlight's blog.

Best moment:  I would suggest this instance of my occasional catchphrase, because it was rewarded by Arkabee, and I believe that eventually led to the tiny cans of Dr. Pepper system.

Worst moment:  Some of them knock-down-drag-outs with AD.  Not that I regret any of my positions or standing up for them, but I gather the overall tone and environment led to him ditching the board, which is a shame.

Meetups:  the well-documented DC gatherings, plus I met Jough in Chicago and Ash in Anaheim.

How I found the board: I think I joined Dumbrella a few months before it shuttered. I lurked for a bit before that. But I was here day 1.

First Post: Welcome thread

First non-Achewood topic: Hollywood's Hottest I think. Man, there's so much early board stuff I don't remember saying at all.

First avatar: I picked this as my AIM icon in the mid-to-late 90s and don't see myself changing it any time soon

Stalker moment: reading Zart's journal on Last.fm, I guess.

Best moment: Hands fuck*ng down it's this. No contest.

Worst moment: nothing springs to mind. Any time I kind of skim, especially the serious posts, I feel guilty about it.

Meetup: the DC ones plus Baco de Mayo (3x) and Bobby's BBQ and Virgin Sacrifice

I'm stuck at my day job about to die of boredom and over-airconditioning so I guess I'll finally try to do this.

How I found the board: Came here right from Dumbrella, which I am pretty sure was the first internet messageboard I ever joined.

My first post: how I found Achewood.
http://touamb.com/index.php/topic,19.msg246.html#msg246

My first thread started was a non-Achewood topic: A recipe contest that no one entered. I seem to have gotten over the embarrassment and rejection.
http://touamb.com/index.php/topic,134.msg1509.html#msg1509

First avatar was the one I have now. There was a brief period of pug but mostly it's always been this.

Stalker moments: I can't think of any board-member-stalking moments, unless Cort is correct that reading Zart elsewhere on the internet counts. But then does it count to, like, follow Q's pictures on Flickr? (Which he has recently deleted, by the way, so don't bother trying).

If Onstad-stalking moments count, as I wrote on the first page, I am still fond of the time I linked to an entry in a dog show for his dachshund. Someone else actually found that for me, so it was like I had a whole staff devoted to stalking. I guess I did also go to his book signing and only tell him my first name - maybe that was kind of sneaky since it turned out he did know who I was and I am not sure if I intended to explain it.

Best moment, I have no idea, surely that isn't for me to judge?

Worst moment, probably the time I deleted the whole thread where people linked to their real name social media sites, when Shithead was doing his thing, and it was later pointed out that I could have moved it to the private board, at least. Sorry. I was just trying to keep you all safe.

OHHHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIT!

Which is to say, I hope so. And, upon looking at my calendar, I see that's five days after I return to work. What sucks is life.
