I had read it many, many times and could not figure out what was going on in the second half of that post.

Speaking of baseball, my co-worker said game 6 was the best game he's ever seen - and this from a guy who actually has seen his son pitch in the major leagues.

Sometimes people go into social work (or humanitarian work) to "help those less fortunate." Because, in their minds, being born nonwhite is a misfortune.

I want to punch those people sometimes, but there it is. Their heart is in the right place, but their brains are long gone.

"Ugh, why does he want to go to this weird restaurant on our first date? Oh, wait, they have Hummus, and he's Lebanese. I guess that's why." (about a restaurant that is really good and is a very good choice for a first date).
Then she, without anyone saying anything, felt the need to "defend" her decision to go on a  date with a Lebanese guy, by saying she really likes learning about other cultures, and plus he has a really good job and makes a lot of money.

Then I tried to suggest restaurants, and she got mad at me for suggesting restaurants. After she loudly talked to herself about which restaurant to go to for the last 20 minutes.

But mostly, the interns all reacted like I am some sort of horrible condescending racist when I said "hm, a lot of people come into my store who are worried about making ends meet, and yet they're buying lots of expensive pre-made food. I wonder if any organizations offer free classes on how to cook frugal meals?"

I don't think that's right, pre-made food is definitely cheaper than homemade food.

I said "it depends what you cook" and got a blank stare.

I don't think it even depends on what you cook. I think for any given particular dish of any particular quality you can make it cheaper at home. I'm not sure people realize what cheap quality of ingredients goes into most frozen food, for example.  And yeah, it will cost more if you make a rib sandwich at home than if you buy a McRib, but that's because you'd be using real meat and the McRib is made of shreds of leftover carcass soaked in chemicals and formed into a solid object.

There are never coupons for fresh produce or store-brand noodles, but that's how you eat cheap, for sures.
