I may be the only one that hopes this, but if all this sniping back and forth culminates into make-outs, please take video and post it here, okay?  I'm guessing it will be even hotter than the whole hair-blow drying thing.

That is what I am doing now, writing erotic friend fiction.

I'm guessing, by their silence, that I've made they boys uncomfortable, which was not my intent.  Sorry guys.

Still, quite an effective strategy.

this unpleasant college-drop-out dude on my facebook feed posted a big thing about how he lives below the federal poverty line, and yet can afford to feed/clothe/house himself as well as entertain himself with fancy food and electronics. He does not explicitly state what we are supposed to get from this information, but it still aggravates me.

Also, I do not think he is below the poverty line, because I know where he works. Maybe he (illegally) agreed to work for less than minimum wage/to work unpaid hours to make some kind of point about the free market?

Now he is responding defensively to a post I made about federally subsidized low-income housing.

It is interesting to me how sometimes just stating a fact (I live comfortably on a small amount of money, low income housing is not built in rich neighborhoods) can come across as an "argument." The other day my friend got mad at me for saying that you have to use a reusable vinyl bag hundreds times to make up for the material cost of making a sturdier bag vs. using recyclable plastic bags.

Is he looking at the poverty line for a family of four or something?

Pedro's last pay raise pushed him into the top 10% of income earners in the U.S. However, that's the number for an individual earner -- if you consider the fact that he is the sole provider for a family of four, we don't even make it into the top quintile. Not that we're poor, but me being a stay-at-home mom is basically the difference between us being middle-class and us being filthy fuck*ng rich.

Household structure is everything.

yes, I am almost certain he is looking at the number for a family of four. But I could not figure out how to ask him that without the possibility of harsh comebacks raining down on my tender frame.

Slightly off-topic, but has anyone seen "30 Days," that Morgan Spurlock show about people living in ways that are unfamiliar to them? The first episode features Spurlock and his then-girlfriend (now wife) spending 30 days living on minimum wage. It's pretty interesting.

Oh... wow.  When you repeatedly say you would have posted something regardless of who it was about, it starts to make me think the opposite, you know?  Is this woman saying she posts every article she reads about every "offensive" thing every person of note does?

The thing is, how is it offensive to play golf in one country beacuse it was the anniversary of a plane crash in another country?  I'm thinking something awful happend on every calendar day of the year somewhere in the world.

Likewise, how is it offensive to state that a horrible thing happened and related it to it's location?  There were Canadian internment camps where our Japanese citizens were held during WWII and it's awful that such a thing occured.  I take no offense to these camps being called Canadian internment camps - it's where they were located - and I'm confused as to why it would be wrong to be clear about the where these camps were...  Stating a location doesn't equal the finger of guilt pointed at an entire nation.  It just doesn't.

How many poles, Ash?

That part that really got to me was how she compared the President's gaffe to calling an Arab a terrorist. Then denied that she was equivocating.
