The smell is barely even present in the kitchen. No garbage disposal, no dishrags or towels that I can find. Smell is strongest in stairwells, so maybe it's coming from the basement? I don't smell it when I'm down there...

I mostly only notice it immediately when I enter the house. Or when people make a face as they enter the house.

I've actually been wondering lately if my house smells bad. I don't think that it does, but how would I know. Well people don't grimace when they walk through the door so I guess it's probably alright.

Thinking that ravens are air cats is not normal… but on weed it is.

WEED.

ALL OF THE TIME.

Inev, you might have a dry trap.  Look for floor drains in the basement or on the ground floor.  Sewer gas may be rising up out of these because the water in the U-shaped trap underneath the drain has evaporated.  All you have to do to fix it is pour about a gallon of water down the drain and the trap will be refilled, thus blocking the sewer gas from rising up through the trap.

May not be the source of your problem, but it's an easy fix and worth a try.

I will check that out. I also noticed yesterday that someone unplugged the dehumidifier my landlord had in the basement. So maybe that will help/would had helped if it was running this summer.

Yep, and there might be mold accumulated on it somewhere.  What does it drain into?

A floor drain like the one you described, which is also the drain for our washing machine. Just got home from work, going to investigate now.

If it drains your washer it's probably not a dry trap.

ah, ok. I see now. I was reading dry-trap as in "this type of trap is called a dry-trap." You are saying I might have a trap that happens to be dry. I looked this up. cool.

So as I am gathering my notes to write the book about the last Sasquatch on Earth hiding in plain sight in Los Angeles, I have decided that my conceit for meeting him is that I knew him from this message board, as a nod to the fact that most of the people pushing me to write more consistently are right here.

I'm not going to get into the name of this place or nothing but it would be clear what I'm talking about for someone who knew.

So.

There's that.

yeahhh.

Lately I keep thinking about wanting to write a short story about having sex with this customer from work. It isn't a sex story, and I would keep it really clean. But a first-person account of meeting this strange woman and having a strange encounter with her. Actually it's less about the real person... when I was trying to explain her to my friend the other day I unintentionally embellished some details in a way which made me think. The more I interact with her the harder it is to believe that she is real. I think if I wrote a profile of her based on our interactions people would think it was some kind of parody.

Over the past however-many months I have read so much, more than I've read in years. The other day I was telling someone about novels I've read recently, and I realized I would really enjoy trying to write some short stuff. Unfortunately I think the kind of story I would write is worthless, actually worse than worthless because it would be the uninteresting, accidentally pretentious writing of a guy who doesn't actually know that much about literature, but nonetheless wants to write strange short stories that don't go anywhere. "hey, look, this guy has read Borges and only Borges." I'm sure I told you guys about my fiction class in college, where I wrote the story about the guy who turns his apartment into a maze-nest-thing. I was so proud of how creeped out my classmates were. Most of them wrote "GROSS" or "THIS PART IS DISGUSTING" on their copies. Later the professor talked about that story in class, not remembering it was mine, which was pretty strange.

I was a little zonked last night, but I almost meant to express that that idea sounds more like something I want to read than any other idea you have expressed. I think you have mentioned it before, maybe, maybe I just wasn't READY to read about the Sasquatch and now I have grown enough to be prepared for this journey.
