Every time someone complains about the newsfeed, I tell them that you can put stuff in a list and it'll solve everything they are complaining about - they'll get all the posts, in time order. I am pretty sure that not a single person who's complained about the newsfeed has ever taken this advice. I totally don't get it.

But if you primarily look at Facebook on a smartphone, you still have to go through a few gyrations to see your lists. It still defaults to the filtered feed.

I don't recall her asking that questions, but I must have said yes because I get her kid updates. And yes, her kids are awesome.

If you don't want to live in Chapel Hill proper -- it's lovely, but super expensive -- a lot of my friends live in downtown Durham, I could arrange a tour. It's become a very cool eclectic place to live in the last five years, very walkable/bikeable with lots of locally owned shops, bars, and restaurants, and the commute isn't bad to Chapel Hill, Raleigh, or Research Triangle Park. When you describe the place you currently live, it reminds me most of Downtown Durham.

My house is a good 30 minute drive from downtown Chapel Hill, but it's a hell of a lot closer than Charlotte. I did my graduate minor at UNC so I don't know the campus super well, just a few of the main buildings, but I can show you around a little. And if you move here, you should definitely come for game nights. You would love my friends. Most of them are guys in their mid-twenties, you'll fit right in.

Dear diary, got a gig translating a short-story book by Alice Munro. Pay’s good and it certainly puts a shine on the ol’ resumé but holy good Hell is it *boring*.

300 hundred pages of bored, banal housewives contemplating cheating on their banal, boring husbands, all written in a style smothered in primness, ever so impressed with its own supposedly solemn elocution (which just comes out as fuck*ng twee). Not that it doesn’t have its dramatic&lyrical moments or one or two interesting characters, but the overall effect is one of pervasive, inconsequential blandness and ok I’m done complaining.

Also I took 1 ritalin which a friend gave me just to see how it affects my output and I’m pretty sure I’m palpitating.
