Also, I'm going to post this picture for LFM every chance I get.

A brief conversation I had on Facebook yesterday when a friend checked in from the stadium.

"Here's to starting the season off with a sweep of the NYY."

"Ah yes, the salad days of April when hopes haven't yet been dashed."

"Hey now... Well you are right.."

Guess who had Josh Beckett on his bench this weekend, and therefore got nothing out of his no-hitter?

(Not that it made a huge difference. I won the W, K, and ERA categories anyway. Might have helped with WHIP though. But still, it's the principle of the thing.)

It's the last week of our regular season, so probably time to post a status.

  • Owensboro, Sumo Shortstops, Marrrners, and Banana Town have all clinched playoff spots.
  • Angels of Death sit in the #5 spot and will clinch the playoffs with anything other than egregious collapse.
  • Oakey Blues are #6, 2.5 games (points? I dunno) ahead of Daddy War Bucks. 8.5 wins by Oakey Blues and/or losses by DWB clinches the final spot for the Blues (a tie being half a win).
  • I am not sure what the point of the divisions are, because right now the playoff bracket lists Owensboro as #1 and Marrrrnerrrrrrrs as #2 and getting the first-round bye, despite the Sumos leading the "American League."

Good luck evry'buddy!

The playoffs are here! First round:
Banana Town (Carlos) vs. Angels of Death (uh, I don't know who this is)
Sumo Shortstops (AW) vs. Oakey Blues (Ash)

Owensboro (Greg) and Marrrnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs (miles) have first-round byes.
Good luck everyone, and "Ulf Dahlen" please identify yourself.

Semi-final results:
Marrrrrrnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs 7, Sumo Shortstops 1. No repeat for you!
Owensboro 7, Angels of Death 2.

So it's Owensboro Greg vs. Miles for the champeenship. According to my records neither of them has won a TOUAMB fantasy baseball title. Good luck, gentlemen.

Congrats to Miles and his Marrrrrrrrrnerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrs who defeated Owensboro Greg 6-3 to win the TOUAMB fantasy baseball championship. Not only his first championship, but first time in the top 3 in any TOUAMB fantasy league.

AW defeats Angels of Death 6-4 to take third place. Which is good, because I still don't know who Angels of Death is, which would have made it awkward to put on my historical winners' list.

Good season everyone. In other baseball news, I was at Jordan Zimmermann's no-hitter yesterday. First time I've seen one of those in person. It was just about the most awesome thing ever.

Proof that laissez-faire management works, sort of.
