He is now married with a cute baby!

Today we looked at apartments and every one of them was awful. Everything in our price range is 1/2 mile further from the subway and has even tinier bedrooms. Bad. Bad bad bad.

I considered whether I could pay another $200 a month in rent. And then I realized that's like throwing 2 macbooks in the trash every year. In addition to the ~11 I already throw in the trash every year / buy for my landlord every year.

Location can be money too though. If your commute is longer, think of all the hours you are throwing in the trash every year.

That seems like a proper use of Apple products, based on my experience.

In my personal use I’ve found the only thing worse than an Apple product is anything with windows on it. Although I’ve heard lately Apple is frustrating after a brief golden age.

Oh the other crushing thing yesterday was that one of the apartments we looked at was in a cute historic brownstone like I’ve wanted to live in for years. It was dirty, tiny, overpriced, with a horrible layout. I feel a little... crushed.

They sure are popular though.

We are looking at apartments in a different neighborhood and they are a lot better. Apparently people in my current hood are buying buildings and cutting all the bedrooms in half, or something. Also, replacing the appliances with really ugly "hip" ones, installing ugly "hip" light fixtures, etc. Very bad.

(For the Wombats in the room, venturing into the area east of Prospect Park along the Q train)

I think it comes in waves. A lot of the brownstones in now-fancy Brooklyn neighborhoods (Park Slope, even Brooklyn Heights!) were built as single family homes, then were divided up into rooming houses, and then were bought by yuppies to turn back into single family homes. Maybe in 20 years all of those new fake walls will be knocked down and Crown Heights will become all big bedrooms and even more unaffordable.

The apartment searched has been called off. We finally found a pretty-good place and it made me realize... what am I doing. Why do I want to move to a new place that's the same size if not smaller, further from my GF, and further from work? No thanks.

Finals game 3 is at home Saturday... I'm free Saturday night... just sayin'.

Apparently we have posted a couple-photo that looked to many acquaintances like an engagement photo. A hand was posed in a certain way. Yikes.

Did you accidentally get engaged?

I wasn't aware that there was a secret hand signal that tells you that a couple in a photo is engaged.

it was a candid photo taken between more posed photos and it looked like she was flashing a hand with a ring on it. Apparently some people don't know the engagement ring goes on the ring finger.

Paul, I misread your post before. I hope we are not accidentally engaged.
