Seriously? Is there a pudding trend? How could I have missed this? Is this one of those California things that we haven't caught up with yet?

I have yet to see any exotic new trends in pudding out here, but maybe I'm just not looking hard enough.

Update: Lunch has been retroactively amended to include a package of tuna giraffe. You know those flat foil packets they sell it in now? Speaking of yuppies, or something, this package advertises the wonderful feature that you do not have to drain the tuna giraffe.

What is the matter with this country? We have become too lazy to drain our own cans of tuna giraffe?

Well according to Alton the packet tuna is also cooked less resulting in a better texture/flavor than the canned kind.

I'm on my annual grandma-sitting trip. My parents will be back on Thursday, so it's shorter than last week. But still, weird computer, strange food (my grandma insists on cooking), and their TV seems to receive these weird things called "commercials."

This is true, now that you mention it. But it doesn't seem to be the feature that they think will attract people.

oh my god, this is like my least favorite thing.
I buy a guitar amplifier because I think it is really awesome, and a guitar magazine talks about how hipsters love this guitar amplifier.
I dance the way my body wants to dance when there is rhythm and alcohol, and someone tells me that I am doing a hipster dance.
fuck that shit.

i left out the actually important parts of my today update:
I did a sweat lodge: awesome. It was so hot that I could hardly breathe. I did a prayer, which is a new thing for me.
I sat alone on a rock for 5 hours in the middle of a river: awesome. I wrote 15 pages of letters, realized what I want to do with my life, then decided I am dumb for thinking I could know that, then went back again.
I realized that once the 17 year old drinks and starts acting like a 17 year old she is no longer attractive: not awesome, but probably important.
my favorite person at this camp gave me a compliment and said that i'm funny, similar comment from my other favorite person (the two oldest staff members). This made me really happy about how I am doing.

I almost cried when my kids left today. I like this job so much. In 5 days I'll have 11 year olds again and I will not be as happy.

edit: 2 of my campers friended me on facebook and I'm not sure what I do about this.

edit: 2 of my campers friended me on facebook and I'm not sure what I do about this.

I have always ignored friend requests from students and campers under 18.  How many times have I been tagged in an vaguely inappropriate picture and not noticed for a couple of days, or had a person who is not totally aware of facebook write something on my wall that I wouldn't want students to see?  Enough times that I don't ad the chitlins to Facebook.

Today I'm gonna see a matinee performance of my play, then carefully hand wash my wedding dress with one of my maids of honour.

Today I'm gonna see a matinee performance of my play

I can only imagine what that experience would be like.  Getting all choked up seeing something you created expressed through the hard work of other, talented people...feeling horrified that some glaring logical error in the plot is suddenly visible to all...realizing the director had no idea about what you were trying to communicate and totally went off on some minor tangent, changing the meaning to the opposite of what you intended...

I don't think play writing would be a good career for a control freak.

Yay! Be sure to come back with a completely unbiased review of how awesome it is.

Today I'm going to pack some stuff in a friend's car and go camping for a few days. Been ages since I've had more than a couple of days off work and years since I've been camping so a few days of bushwalking, a thick pile of paperbacks and relaxed personal hygiene will be very restful.

Don't forget to check for ticks!

Yet another thing the Aussies do better than anyone else is grow ferocious parasites.  Well, the American South does have chiggers.  They're pretty heinous too.  But not "paralytic toxin" and "tick typhus" horrible.

One day I arrived at my job teaching ballroom dancing to find my co-worker in the back room with a bottle of clear nail polish.  "I'm so glad you're here," he said.  "Can you put this on my back?"

I spent the next twenty minutes dotting clear nail polish over the red chigger bumps on his shoulders and back while he told me about his weekend adventures getting drunk in the woods.

Later, we dated briefly.

Pedro does not like this man.

I desire a parody of WHAM's "Jitterbug" (was that Wham? I don't even remember...) about chigger bumps and I desire it now.

I'm certain the only reason this hasn't been done already is that it could be misfortunately heard in a racist manner.
