Step 1: Buy a whipped cream can.
Step 2: hold mouth over business end and 'slightly' press the nozzle until gas but not cream comes out, while inhaling deeply.
Step 3:  Be high for 30 seconds.
Step 4: Discard useless can of cream and wonder what the fuck you are doing with your life.

When I was 16 a friend hipped me to this.  So we went down to the grocery store.  We couldn't afford to buy the cream so we hit it right there in the store.  I was buzzing my ass off and turned just in time to see my friend do a header into the pickles.

There were broken pickle jars everywhere, my friend was bleeding profusely from the  head and lying on the floor.  I helped him to his feet and started walking him toward the front of the store.  Along the way we passed a display of dish towels.  I grabbed one and used it to cover the gash on his forehead and stop the bleeding.

When we got to the front of the store we just walked right out.  This was at about 10:30 at night so there was nobody in the store, but a couple of checkers and baggers.  Maybe there was a customer or two there as well, but I don't recall seeing anyone.

A little while later after we had gotten away from there my friend starts blaming me "why didn't you catch me" he said.  I said "you sorry mother fucker, I should have left your ass lying on the floor."

Anyway, that probably should have been the last time I spoke to that dude, but it wasn't.  I hung out with him for several more years.  We even had a music band for a time.

I haven't seen or heard from Bobby for quite a long time though.  I spoke with George, the other guy in that picture for the first time in many years about 2 months ago.  He thinks Bobby is dead.  According to him Bobby had become a derelict and was living under the freeway.  He would come around to George's apartment and brag about how much beer he could buy for $5 like it was an artform to him.  But he stopped coming around and it's assumed he's dead.

So yeah, moral of the story, if you want to do whippits you should probably reconsider where your life is leading you to.

i got my wisdom teeth pulled after my freshman year of college, and they gave me some kind of general sedative plus local anesthesia, so i was aware the whole time and i could hear and smell everything, it just felt (and looked, apparently) like i was asleep. on the drive home i said to my ma "wow it feels like i'm stoned as hell. i don't like getting stoned, i like to get nice and high and stop before being stoned kicks in."

so yeah that was an interesting evening that followed that.

when they gave me intense pain pills for my wisdom teeth, i just read "High Fidelity" all the way through and then forgot it. Which was probably about all you can expect from that book.
Also apparently I walked around my house dripping blood and not getting why my mom kept telling me to get back in bed.

I couldn't 'do a Whipit', partly because I'd worry that doing this act might sometimes just kill you instantly in mid huff. But it's mostly because I can't really face the idea that at the end you have all that cream, sitting in the can, unwhipped and unreachable. It just seems a terrible waste of cream. Rock on, fellow Rockstars.

I was at a bar in Baltimore a few weeks ago and he came in, and for some reason I had a really strong urge to queue up an entire CD worth of his songs on the jukebox.

A couple days later I was in the same bar, and someone came in wearing a homemade t-shirt that simply said "Fuck Dan Deacon" in big black letters on the back. I kind of wish that this had happened on the same night.

I can't imagine why someone would want to be high when they could be eating whipped cream instead.

Someone used to do this with frequency at one of my haunts.  Only instead of Dan Deacon, the offending party would choose a combination of Frou Frou and solo Imogean Heap.  It turned a perfectly good Scottish bar into an episode of the Oh-fuck*ng-Cee.

...wake up from another weird Internet dream. I dreamed that my inbox was all cluttered with email alerts from CNN.com. Apparently someone had signed me up for inbox news bulletins as a gag. It was really annoying.

What is up with me spending every non-waking moment on the computer, lately?

Laugh like a mother at my favourite story of the day.

That is a simultaneously funny and sad story. The picture is the best part.

Also: who the fuck has a giant concrete statue of an elk in their yard?

Winona is two hours from St.Paul, where I live, and let me tell you, there are lots of concrete deer and elk roaming Minnesota yards, especially the closer you get to a lake.  (Winona is on the Mississippi river, which is basically just the longest lake in the state.)

...find out that Pedro and I (and some other friends) wound up in the documentary footage for Nerdcore Rising.

About 30 minutes in, during the footage from the show in Chapel Hill, you can hear Pedro say "I'm a computer programmer" and see us dancing like fools in the crowd scenes.
