Just got back from the family gift exchange (Santa brings stuff for the kids tomorrow).  It's hard to think of my siblings as Adults, but my younger sister got napkin rings and was excited.  And then the kids, man.  One of them can drive.  Man.

Today I did this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methedrone or this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mephedrone or this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methcathinone

Whichever one it was takes you to that place that ecstasy takes you in the cleanest way possible.  I was highly impressed.  I have to go to work in 8 hours, I hope I can do that.

The first time I ever did LSD was around the holidays and I coincidentally had just gotten my first job - holiday stocker at Nordstrom. Holy shit was I fucked up when I went to work that morning. While we were tripping, we watched Beverly Hills Cop I. I went in to work, and they played "Axel's Theme" (the Jan Hammer <actually Harold Faltermeyer> keyboard-noodling thing) over the sound system. I came fairly close to losing my shit. Good times!

When I was at the airport waiting for my bags, the PA played The Christmas Waltz, Axel F, and O Come All Ye Faithful in succession.  No one else seemed to notice.

Today I'm going to spend all day long shoveling an insane amount of snow. The drifts sitting in the driveway were up to my chest. Good times. Cause I was just thinking the other day about how I wanted to spend my day off of work, working my ass off just to get out the door for work the next day.

...wonder if Smick knows this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbfD9OKwqBs

I've had two run-ins with him!

1) During the North Portland Anticon (the Santacon was kicked out of down town or something so all the Santas marauded around a different part of Portland.)  he came wheeling by.   I and another guy from the unicycle gang walked over and started making small talk with him.  "Oh wow!  How did you learn to unicycle?  Was it hard?"  and then the other guy says "Can I try?" He then clumsily got up on it using our shoulders the steady himself, and then leaned forward and rode a circle in the parking lot.  He then came back and said "Oh wow!  That was a lot easier than I thought!" Then looked at me "You should try!"

"Me?  No way!  I'd break my neck!"

Then we repeated the process of climbing up on it stumbling and haltingly, and then I took off and weaved a steady slalom though some of the Santas congregating, came back and said "Jeeze!  I didn't think it'd be that easy!"

We were both kind of a cock to a stranger.

2) The second time we came across him was when our short film was up for the People's Choice award at a local Filmed by Bike festival.   It was our Zombie/Unicycle movie, his unicycle bag pipe movie Everyman, and a rapping road bike rider.   We both lost to the rapping guy.

I kind of consider him our nemesis.

Cock? Yes. Awesome? Assuredly. That is the best anecdote I have heard in quite a while.

To tie in the "today I'm gonna", today I am going to enjoy a temperature of 70 below. Did I say enjoy? That's not the right word.

Nabu is the only person on this board who complains about temperatures I feel it's reasonable to complain about.  Is that with windhill Nabu, or the actual temp before windchill?

I usually start to get grouchy about the temperature at around -30 C (-22 F), especially if we get a cold snap of a week or two like that.  Worst I've ever experienced locally, with windchill, is around -50 C (-58 F).  After about -30 C though, it all really stops mattering to me - it's just in the realm of fuckin' intolerably cold and the extreme to which it is intolerable seems somewhat insignificant to me.  I have good gear, but at that point, those tiny fractions of skin that are unavoidably exposed, however briefly... it's bad news.  Nothing is worse than when you get to where you're heading, and your gloves/mitts are too chunky to deal with keys and door unlocking.  That moment of burning cold when the hand is exposed to the elements and especially the cold metal of a key, lock or nob... Fuck that shit.

Maaaaan, it got down into the 40s last night.  Currently though it's about 60 and clear.

Houstonians gloat a lot during winter because in a couple of months we'll be dying from the heat.
