...I was on a dead-end street in a dangerous part of town, in a dive restaurant full of sketchy people.  I stood face-to-face with the scarred and pock-marked owner, ordering up poutine, and waited.  He was so hardboiled, all talking about murders and such, and I was basically just getting a really good look at his damaged face.  I was feeling a strong sense of impending doom due to the area, the place and the guy, then I realized what I should really fear is my eating habits.  Then it turned into a nightmare of my worry about my health and planning what I would eat for lunch instead of poutine.

Last night I had this nightmare that my ex-boss was rehired. It was soul-crushing.

I had a similar dream once (nothing to do with blueberries, but the old boss coming back part).  I told my boss the next day, "I had a dream last night that you re-hired so-and-so and put her right over me.  I realize this has no basis in reality, but just to let you know, if that happened I would quit as soon as possible."

I keep having this dream where I show up to high school mid-semester, and I can't remember my class schedule, so I try to find my locker (I always kept my schedule written in my planner, which I knew was in my locker) but I couldn't remember which locker was mine, or the combination to the lock. So I went to the office to have them print me a new schedule, and then I couldn't find any of the rooms, and by the time I found the room for my first class the period was over, so I had to start all over again for second period. Then, when I finally got to the right classroom, I was horribly late, and everyone else was turning in their homework, which I hadn't done, so I thought I'd do it during class, but it was algebra, and the numbers were swimming around on the page, and then I realized I didn't even have the right book, and I was trying to find the math assignment in a biology book.

I've had this dream five times in the last week, and it's been awful every time. Last night, I realized it was a dream, and then realized I couldn't find my kids, and panicked until I remembered that I was still dreaming, and that they were asleep in their beds. So I calmed down, and my mom showed up and said, "Aren't you worried about [Girlface]?" I realized that she had my son with her, and I said, "No, she'll be there when I wake up," and mom looked horrified and I felt like a bad parent anyway. So I started looking around the school for her, and I heard her crying, and the next thing I knew Pedro was jumping out of bed and going to get her in her room.

Anxiety dreams, gotta love 'em.

weird:

first I had 2 dreams in a row about showing up at a friend's house I wasn't invited to and making them mad at me.
then, 2 dreams in a row about working at a gas station (?) and getting fired for some reason.

Also, lately I have had dreams where inside the dream I realized that things didn't add up, but didn't realize it was a dream.
"wait, honey, since when do you have twin baby brothers?"
"wait, what happened to that grocery store job I took? why am I working in this gas station?"

had a long, convoluted dream that involved being in Paris with my family, watching people swimming with Orca whales, etc.
But the thing that makes me laugh is that upon arriving in paris, I thought:
1. oh man, there is so much good beer here.
2. I'd better tell mom and dad that the best thing to do in Paris is ride the metro all day.

I dreamed that I ran into Onstad and asked him what was up with the cookbook. He said he wasn't going to finish it. Instead, he was going to have a few recipes in the subscriber thingy, and also, he was about to publish a newspaper article with some recipes and something about how much he hates the cooking magazines.

He was very cheerful about this and clearly did not consider it any sort of failure, just something that had ended up in a different place from where he'd thought he was going.

This sounds like Ray reasoning.

Last night I dreamed I met wombat in real life.  She and I were at a cafeteria-style restaurant, waiting for our food to arrive.  We had run out of things to say to each other, and I felt a sort of paniced need to come to terms with the fact I am turning in to a boring person with not a lot to say.  She was being polite, trying not to look bored, but it was pretty obvious that I was failing to function on a vital social level, and I felt really bad about it.

Sorry wombat.  Sorry I am boring in my dreams and possibly in real life.

after the day I met JorgeFabregas in person, I had a dream about something we talked about. In the dream, I went to lunch with my girlfriend, a coworker, and her husband. She asked my girlfriend "how old are your kids?" and refused to believe that we do not have kids. Then my girlfriend got mad at me, because obviously I am telling all of my coworkers that we have kids together.

I had a dream where I organized a thing where a bunch of people drove to a rest area and were going to carpool from there to some other place.  I was in the rear car as we started down the ramp to the highway when the phone rang.  It was the wife of one of the people in the front car, and as I was saying hi, I watched that car get hit by a semi.

As if the terror wasn't enough to keep me awake after that, I had to deal with the moral quandary of if I would be able to tell her about the accident right then.

Thanks, brain!

I had three really vivid dreams this morning after I woke up early and went back to sleep.

The first involved the Martin Luther King of *****s. That wasn't exactly who he was but it's the closest I can describe it. It involved a world where everything was sepia toned and a ***** that looked kind of like a jukebox who was moved after his ***** professor was killed to fight for the freedom of his people by speaking quietly and calmly. Actually maybe he was more *****-ghandi, but also looked like he was drawn in futuraam.

The second involved me hanging out in my parent's house with my current housemate's girlfriend (who I don't particularly like in real life), we ended up getting flirty and then he came home and she was naked (I'm not clear on why because I wasn't) and he got pissed so I had to make up some weird excuse.

The third involved me being part of a travelling show of what were basically strippers/burlesque dancers but in some bizzare fantasy universe where that involved magic, talking bears and a woman psychically communicating with her daughter via ancient pottery (the woman was an archeologist, I think?)

I can't remember what I dreamed last night, but I have this vague feeling that it was awesome.
