@achewood I once had the idea that, if only for a moment each night, everyone in the world was asleep at the same time. It made the world manageable.

awesome.

last night my dream hinged on the fact that the new iPhone software got rid of public transit directions on the maps. So I was stranded in a strange land, couldn't find a transit map, and couldn't use my fancy phone to help me. So naturally I had to quit my job in frustration.

The other part of the dream is that I lived with my really unhygienic friend in a dorm room, and he decided to take a shower for the first time in a month. In the shower that was in the middle of my dorm room. His nasty dirty water was splashing all over my stuff.

At least there weren't any landwhales. Jesus.

I had a dream last night about driving a high school friend I haven't spoken to in years to a magic hospital to get a magical sex change into a lady, probably because of Dan's dream.

He couldn't drive herself back (I think that's the way to handle the pronouns) because it took too much out of them to go through it with but it wasn't an in-patient thing so I helped out.

I remember being not surprised at all that this was A Thing but I was surprised when the magic even changed his clothes and hairstyle and put make-up on him and stuff.

The magic doctor wasn't sure either, it was just supposed to, you know, turn him into the woman he would've been and if he wanted new clothes and all that, he would've had to have rewritten everything about his personality and history and possessions, it was just supposed to change his gender.

It was a sign that something was going horribly wrong with magic.

And as the doctors started panicking, I woke up.

Still with the horrible jet lag, I awoke at 2 AM and couldn't get back to sleep until close to 6 AM. Had an audio only dream of Kool and the Gang's "Celebration" on extra loud repeat in my brain. Blaring brass instruments are not restful. I'd choose the land-whale dream over this any day.

...that Leonard Nimoy had died, and the details of his last moments were the subject of news reportage.  He had dropped acid and climbed into a sensory deprivation tank and allowed himself to run out of oxygen.  Frankly, that sounds like a terrifying way to go.

But that's exactly how Nimoy would want to go.

Except maybe he'd want light in the tank and lots of pictures of really heavy-set women.

I've been having really vivid and slightly strange dreams lately. I don't even know how to describe them. Some of the images stay with me throughout the day but I can't put the events together in any narrative that makes sense. Just images and impressions. Last night's main character was a girl I stopped seeing like 2 and 1/2 years ago but who has been on my mind recently.

I had a horribly vivid nightmare that I had gone back in time to inhabit my eight-year-old body, but with all the knowledge and experience I have now. It wasn't a nightmare until things started happening differently from the way I remembered them. It started out with little things, like having a different third grade teacher. But then my brother was killed in a car crash. Because I "remembered" the future, I knew that he wasn't supposed to die -- and not only had I lost him, I also lost the wonderful relationship I was supposed to have with his wife and his beautiful children. It was horrible.

Damn my crazy sci-fi brain.

Dag nabbit. I had yet another horrible dream about the dangers of motor vehicles.

This time, I went to visit Wombat and when I got there she had just come from the vet because one of her pugs had been hit by a car. She (the dog) had not been killed but the vet was not optimistic that she would live through the night.

It was awful and sad. Way sadder than I would have expected to feel for a dog that I have never met. Womles, give Lilly an extra slice of brioche for me today.

Aww. We can do that.

I have felt sad many times when a pug died who I only knew on the Internet. Someday I guess I will have to be the person who does that to everyone else.

Awe, dead Internet dogs make me sad all the time. Especially when the owners mention Rainbow Bridge.  That gets me weepy.

Side note: in retrospect, those vivid dreams I posted about post-Tokyo were actually early-pregnancy dreams.   I've had several others since, but I tend to forget them shortly after waking.

...that many of my coworkers brought their dogs to work.  There didn't seem to be anything exceptional about it.  I was just walking through the building and people were walking with their dogs, and they were curled up in offices and cubicles.

In reality that would be an interesting thing to see.  I imagine that with dogs' territoriality there would be all sorts of commotion though.

Last night John Lithgow and I were on a sales call. We were hawking packaging supplies (boxes, shrink wrap, tape, palletizers) to a UAV drone manufacturer. He was totally queering the pitch and rambling on about how pissed he was the warehouse workers weren't unionized. I tried to rescue the pitch by sending him out to pick up lunch, but when he came back he was passing out socialist spanish language literature. We were thrown out of the building and John Lithgow started crying.
