Yeah, I'm down with ancient instruments being used in pop music.  Maybe someone will put a guzheng in a good song one day soon.

Ouch!

Keith, I wasn't being a dick to you, wasn't trying to anyway.  I was just pointing out that what you said was completely and ridiculously wrong.

Sorry you feel that way about me Keith, I had no idea.  I remember when you joined the board, you rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, myself included.  And we've butted heads a few times, but I always liked you.  I liked you then and I like you now.

I've stood up for you before too, in more ways than you know.

So no hard feelings, I hope.  Or not, it doesn't really matter.

You've always seemed fairly approving of my music taste Keith, I guess it doesn't really affect any arguments but I am not a drugs user.

I would agree perhaps that a lot of (but not all) interesting, good music owes itself to some level of drugs use, enjoyment of said music does not necessarily stem from the same source. And I like nearly all music that could be objectively said to contain invention or something interesting.

As said I'm not a user. I DO know people who appreciate different kinds of music when high, but it's pretty much 50/50 in terms of which way they go. One guy I know who normally doesn't care for music will sit up all night with me listening to everything brilliant, another who is normally a good sort music wise will only listen to dubstep. Which in my opinion at least is a step down from what he normally likes.

And then there's my mate who's never touched an ounce yet has a rich and voracious interest in good music. I also have a mate who is the biggest pothead and coke fiend I know but his taste in music is, frankly, awful.

So I can't bring myself to agree with your initial statement. That's fine like, everyone disagrees, I've said why I do above, I understand why you might think differently as a fellow liker of good music and a drug user.

What I can't understand why people can be so confrontational in what seems to me a pretty chilled environment. Paul for initially calling it the 'stupidest thing I ever heard' in lieu of a reasoned rebuttal, Keith for an extremely uncalled for personal attack. We're all grown men (apart from me) lads, come on.

I suppose I could have given a reasoned rebuttal that would have been much the same as yours Judy, thank you for that.  I guess I think that what was said was so inherently and obviously stupid, George Bush invading the wrong country stupid,  that a reasoned rebuttal seemed unnecessary.

But, you know whatever.  Keith is entitled to his opinion and I'm entitled to mine.  I am going to try to be less of a dick on the internet though.  I used to be so nice.

this

I freely admit this one would probably be more awesome on drugs. However, since the military takes a dim view of recreational drug use in general, I'm not at liberty to give it a go.

drone/doom/slow, repetitive shit - I like it, without drugs. Draw your conclusions as ye may.

Uh, yeah. WTF, people?

Keith, I said this to someone else lately but it seems appropriate here: I like you, despite some significant differences, and I don't want to have to decide you are an asshole. It would make my world a less interesting place. So as a personal favor to me, could you just shut up? No more opinions about music and drugs. Please.

ALSO: That wombats song (Dance to Joy Division?) from GKA's mix disk is earworming the hell out of me, but in a good way. I'm gonna listen to it again and schedule a customer delivery with my planning tool.

Whoa hey what's this about a wombats song?
