here's something cool: i have in my possession the very first prints of my own artwork. they're both proofs and they're both wrong, but i don't even care. i've already corrected them and sent the updates, so i should have the first batch next week!

and as soon as they pay for themselves, i'm going to order a shit ton more prints in a couple of sizes.

sure would be nice to not have to do this AND a full-time job - but then, my full-time job is pretty cherry too.

is 2013 a good year for most of you? it's been pretty damned good at casa choop.

What constitutes "Safe and Sane" fireworks? Like snakes and sparklers and bottle rockets? I have these things that I got suckered into buying awhile back. They're called like "M5000!" or some shit and look like dynamite. But when they go boom it just lets out a poof of sparkly fairy dust.

My DJ roommates are teaming up with some artist friends for their big art opening. As a promotion they took videos of various friends of mine dancing alone in front of a plain white wall.

I heard a country song the other day with a line like "city boys know how to dance, they've got all kinds of fancy moves-- but I'm a hillbilly. I just jump up and down and grin real big."

Watching my friends dance is pretty painful. No one should have to watch themselves dance alone without music (we have only seen the videos with shitty audio, they are adding the music back on in editing). I think the promotion is something about how you don't have to be a good dancer to have fun. At least I hope it is.

I'll be sure to let you guys know when mine is posted. I like to think I am a good dancer, but this video suggests otherwise.

While they took other peoples' videos we raced our bikes around the 2nd floor of the big abandoned brewery where they have their studio. That was fun as hell.

Today I brought face paint to the fireworks with me so I could paint my kids' faces, and my niece and nephew's faces, while we waited for fireworks to start. I ended up painting two random kids' faces and one of their moms loved my work so much she insisted that I take $5 in payment. I told her that I just paint faces for fun and I never charge, but she really insisted so I used it to buy my kids ice cream.

Felt good, though. It's always nice to have your work validated.

There were probably professional face painters working the scene and they would have charged $5 for each and they are almost certainly not any better than you.
