My particular mode of rail transit has a somewhat dinosaurian system of clipping off a portion of your pass with an automatic "validator".  The validator was apparently designed by out of work '80s Ford automotive engineers, because on any given day, one or the other of the two at my station will have a bag over it, indicating it has broken down.  One day last month was extra special, because they were BOTH out of commission.  They can be hand validated by an attendant (one of those), but there are about 400 people that get on at my station for my ride.  Thankfully the fare enforcement officer (actual title) didn't check passes that day, presumably because he wouldn't be halfway done writing tickets once the 3 hour trip to the boondocks was finished.

Hopefully it's the only place they were cutting cutting corners on the system.

Uh, this process isn't working.
OK, so I looked at the job output logs, and I found this error where it says incorrect number of arguments. So here's the function, it takes one argument, and when it's called in the code, there are none.
Oh wow. Good catch.
Yeah. Especially considering that YOU'RE supposed to be the developer here, and I'M supposed to be the functional guy.

Spent 9 days in St Louis. Good visit. Cooked, ate, drank, hung out in the cold. All my friends are leaving. Some thinking about NYC area, so maybe I'll have some more local-ish friends soon.

Favorite professor told us we could email in the final versions of our papers any time before the end of the year. I sent mine the 24th. Never got any response, but didn't think anything of it. Got an email on the 6th of January saying "don't worry, finally managed to open your paper." I responded asking what he meant, and stated that I am fairly sure I sent it as a microsoft word file. Was there a problem? He responded something like "no worries, I figured it out now." Just got my grades and that class is marked as "incomplete." Auughhhh wtf dude.

I've always kinda scorned the morning coffee fetish. Some of those people are real douchebags until they get some coffee in.

He responded something like "no worries, I figured it out now."

My officemate that I am somehow apparently common-law married to always has to share a room with me when we're on the road. 99.9% of the time, when we leave in the morning he gets off the elevator the second the door opens. However, 99.9% of the time, it is not the lobby. It is just some other person getting on the lift. Whenever someone opens their mouth to try to correct his mistake as he stands in a hallway looking confused, I stop them. "He's 34 years old and runs risk analysis for a living. He'll figure it out."

When he's waiting on the elevator on the first floor, does he barge in the second the doors open, without waiting to see if anyone's getting off?
That's like my biggest pet peeve the whole world.

Anyone who has ever used mass city transportation knows that you let the goers go before the comers come. Because I'm used to his ritual of getting lost in hotels, it gives me a few minutes to grab a complimentary bagel and coffee. He has also been known to "forget" that he has a rental car and just leaves it at the hotel and shuttles to the airport. Our company has crazy blanket insurance that goes full bore automatically when we rent a car. We could literally leave it in a flaming pile of metal on the side of the highway. I assume the rental agency sends someone out to recover the car, but we've never heard any negative feedback. We're usually loaded when it comes time to bring the car back anyway, but on the occasion we actually make it to the airport with the car he has a habit of doing donuts around the giant parking lot where all the rental places are congregated. He then hands the keys to whoever tells him to knock it off, whether it was their car or not. Drew is a man who is merely a passenger on this planet with bosses that have no clue what it is he does all day. From what I gather from other inhabitants of the risk analysis pod, he spends 10 hours a day looking at spreadsheets that he has already programmed to automatically update his reports the moment he turns on his workstation and then he e-mails them out at the end of the day.

Me: Drew, I don't know what you do when we're not together. But the shit I see you do is beyond bizarre and without explanation. What is your deal?
Drew: I don't know, ACAP. Honestly my uncle set up an interview with a small DC consulting firm that was absorbed by our firm. So I just show up to work, then I go home and feed my cat. If I'm not working or feeding my cat, I'm just enjoying the ride.

Oh my Fuck and Balls!

I found a regularly scheduled O-Mok-See club!

You really should plan a vacation to come check out all the hossy stuff in my vicinity.  I think you'd dig it.

Today I have spent entirely too much time reading reviews of Disney World restaurants and making reservations. Because it is fun.
