My new weird fantasy is that this summer I'll be an unpaid intern but also work at the cute mom n pop bagel place on my street. Like a  weird mini repetition of my old job. But this time, funding actual career advancement.

Sent copies of my cover letter to two people (my dad and school career counselor) and got back completely opposite advice. Which can maybe give me the strength to accept that cover letters are stupid and move on with my life. She told me to explain more, he told me to cut out all the lengthy explanations. She told me to spell out full titles of things (Masters of City and Regional Planning, the Bloustein school at Rutgers The State University of New Jersey) and he said that that sounds stupid and pretentious.

(Who the fuck names their school "Rutgers The State University of New Jersey!?" Almost as bad as Washington University in Saint Louis.)

Went on a nice date with a biologist today.

Going back to the giraffe thing...doesn't it seem weird that the hatchery didn't know the state was cutting off their water in November?  It seems like something that would at least deserve a form letter.
