...Just an incoherent moment, soon lost: something like those scenes in movies where the bell just rung for the end of the classes in the last day of school and everybody just sprints loudly and chaotically towards the doors. I was running along with the others, and it was very fun, I was laughing. I even fell down but it was ok. It was one of the best, lightest and carefree dreams I've had in a long time.

The dreams last night ended with myself standing at an elevator and a little boy with glowing red eyes looked up at me and said:

"HELLO MICHAEL!"

And I thought to myself "Oh shit, that's one of those mind-reading Martians I was reading about... oh shit, now he thinks I'm racist against Martians... I'm not racist against Martians, I'm just afraid of their powers... OH SHIT HE HEARD THAT TOO!"

And then I woke up screaming.

When I first read this, I thought, "That's silly, his name isn't even Michael, it's....

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

That's when I realized that I always think of your first and last names together, like MikeWazowski from Monsters, Inc. Weird how some peoples' surnames and given names stick together that way.

when I introduce myself as Dan I become one of those people, apparently. The majority of people who call me Dan (instead of Daniel) say Dan_____ every time.

probably because there's a million guys named Dan, so everybody has to keep all the Dans straight in their head.

This happens to me frequently.  The tendency is for one social group to do it (my similar-aged coworkers for example) and another not to (my school buddies).

I only know three Dans; one of them went to middle school with me, so he gets the FirstLast treatment, as most of my old schoolmates do. My brother-in-law goes by Danny and the other is our young Daniel. So I don't have Daniel Confusion.

Mikes, Marks, and Matts, though, there are just too many of those in my life.

so, I was in the movie Contact, and there was a subplot where everyone thought Jodie Foster had killed her husband. They thought this because it was "inhuman" the way she had left him sprawled out on the floor when she found him dead. Her defense: "well, how could I move him? I'm TINY"-- at this point it was revealed that she was tiny. Like, a foot tall.

later, after I had realized that I had seen this movie and knew what would happen next, the aliens sent a bunch of primates to earth to represent them (they did not understand that only homo sapiens run the earth). I averted disaster when I remembered that in this part of the movie, a chimp set himself on fire by accident, and dies because he runs faster than humans, so we couldn't put him out. As soon as I saw that he was playing with a match, I doused him. Then he hugged me, and I realized that all chimps have a perfectly cubical bump on their backs. "I don't remember ever noticing that before."

This is interesting because a common theme in my nightmares is "this animal is in ______ situation and this situation will only get worse, because there is no way for this stupid animal to understand that we are trying to help it." Normally this involves the animal hurting/attacking me due to its stupid non-human instincts (EG, I am tied to this human, so I should thrash around instead of letting him untie me). This is the first time I have successfully solved one of these dreams.

me and a good pal were where swimming in a pool with a bunch of our freshman floor dudes. At some point we got out and walked along this path, and all of them were peeing in the bushes. They were in really weird poses/positions (standing on their heads, crab-walking, etc), and she said "I didn't know that was how boys peed!" And I said, "um... me neither??"

I had a dream about Paul! He (you) was (were) making a movie with some guys from ESPN (except they weren't, not really). It turned out Paul was renowned for making these crazy, maybe Hangover-type movies, and everyone wanted to be in a movie with him (much like reality).

About a week ago, I had a nightmare that our burglar alarm was going off in the middle of the night. I dissmissed this and sort of forgot about it.

A few days later, I was actually awoken in the middle of the night because our burglar alarm had gone off due to a technical issue.

I am now questioning if the first dream was actually a dream or if maybe the same situation happened twice.

Just now seeing this.  It's not real, but it's a nice dream.  On a totally unrelated subject, I saw the Jackass 3d movie a couple of weeks ago and Bonnie Prince Billy was in it.  He played a fake gorilla trainer to a fake gorilla.

In my head the blinking red eyes and the "Hello Michael" were uh...K.I.T.T. like.

Maybe you're racist against Knight Riders.

I had a dream that my super-intellectual super-lefty old roommate was arguing with me (/intellectually bullying me) that Fight Club is the best movie of all time. Then he was trying to get me to "admit" that blowing up all the banks would be a really smart idea. Even in a dream, my response was "dude, a bank is not a big building where everyone has a piece of paper with their name on it. They have computers and the internet and stuff, that wouldn't work."

I had a dream last night that someone had smashed the window of my hybrid in.  I was relieved to see that this wasn't so this morning.  I then realized that my life is so good that I only have nightmares about car break ins, rather than my job or relationships.  It's a good time to be me.

Also, given the history with your SO's truck, it is good to have dreams about car break-ins and wake up to have it not be true.
