The other day my dad mentioned that he was my age when he married my mom. Yikes.

Today I slept 5 hours, but only because I slept through my alarm by an hour and a half. This is not going well.

What an excellent weekend. Went to visit my brother at school in Nashville and got to see his first apartment, meet his girlfriend and join her fanclub, eat tons of food, scope beautiful women, drink lots of beer. Sometimes life is just grand. Unfortunately this was the weekend I decided to start keeping more serious notes about what I spend money on, and damn it was not good timing. Gas and food and beer are expensive.

I slept in a portaledge for the first time saturday night, on a real bigwall climb. It rained on us, hard, and I was taking amazing pictures with my phone, which is now a brick. It kind of hurts a little bit to not be able to share such an amazing experience with anyone who wasn't there, but maybe that is withdrawal and I need to continue not having  a phone for a while...

well, ran into that girl at a BBQ and she avoided me the whole time. And got hit on extensively by every handsomer-than-me dude there. So I guess now is the part where I have to follow through on my decision to get the fuck over it. Boo.

ugh but seriously, now I am doing the thing where I re-interpret the whole scene as "damn, I am into that guy, but he is avoiding eye contact and looking sad, I shouldn't talk to him."

I am not good at understanding social cues, people. It is not one of my skills.

I am apparently now enough days into working the morning shift that I will wake up spontaneously at 5:30, feeling great. This makes me feel like the world has turned upside down. When I was in Nashville I woke up at 9 every day and spent hour sitting there wondering why these damn college kids were sleeping so late.

Going to bed at 9:00 pm still stinks, though. My roommates are basically reacting like I am socially dead.
